Abstract

Nursing stands as the foundation of healthcare systems, directly influencing clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction across all care levels. This systematic review synthesizes empirical evidence from 2016–2025 to examine the transformative role of nurses in enhancing healthcare quality, reducing mortality and medical errors, and promoting holistic, patient-centered care. Studies were retrieved from PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science using keywords including nursing care, patient outcomes, and satisfaction. The review included quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method studies addressing the impact of nursing interventions, leadership, education, and technology integration. Findings indicate that higher nurse-to-patient ratios, advanced education, and evidence-based practice significantly improve patient recovery, reduce readmissions, and enhance satisfaction. Moreover, nursing leadership and digital innovations (e.g., electronic health records, tele-nursing) have elevated care coordination and efficiency. The results emphasize nursing’s central role as a transformative force shaping healthcare performance, patient experience, and institutional sustainability. Recommendations are provided for policy, training, and clinical practice to strengthen the profession’s future impact
